Booking rules by state
Ohio state park camping reservations
How far ahead you can book, what time dates open, and the rules that trip people up.
The rules
- Campsites open 6 months to the day before arrival: to arrive June 1, book from December 1. Source, checked November 2, 2026
- State park cabins and day-use facilities open 12 months ahead instead. Camper cabins, Sherman cabins and yurts follow the 6-month campsite rule. Source, checked November 2, 2026
- ODNR doesn't publish a release time; it says online booking works any time of day. Check ReserveOhio early that morning. Source, checked November 2, 2026
- Weekends need 2 nights (3 on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends). Within 7 days of arrival, a 1-night campsite stay is accepted if sites are free. Source, checked November 2, 2026
Book on ReserveOhio, the official system run for Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Parks and Watercraft.

Get the reminder by email
One email the week before the big Great Lakes openings (the Boundary Waters permit day in late January first), and when an agency changes its rules. Nothing else.
Before any reminder, you'll get one email asking you to confirm. It comes from New England Reservations (hello@newenglandreservations.com), our sister site. Unsubscribe anytime. See the privacy policy.
